It was announced today that illumo digital was named a finalist for the 2016 SIIA CODiE Awards in the Mobile Healthcare Application category with the Mapmydiabetes product. Finalists represent the information industry’s best products, technologies, and services in software, content and business technology.
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the premier awards for the software and information industries, and have been recognizing product excellence for over 30 years. The awards offer 91 categories that are organized by industry focus of education technology and business technology. Mapmydiabetes was honored as one of 215 finalists globally across the 62 business technology categories.
“I am amazed by the level of innovation and creativity of the products that have been selected as this year’s CODiE Award finalists. We are happy to recognize them for their great contributions and impact they are making on the software, content and business technology industries,” said Ken Wasch, President of SIIA.
Established in response to the overwhelming threat of type 2 diabetes, illumo digital was commissioned by Mapmyhealth to create one of the first digital therapeutics for diabetes in the world. Mapmydiabetes is a patient self-management and collaborative care service that fully integrates into current healthcare pathways.
It is an advanced e-learning system that equips patients with support and guidance to manage their diabetes more effectively. The software has undergone a series of clinical studies and demonstrated a dramatic improvement in patient well-being. It is now being prescribed by diabetes nurses and doctors in the UK to improve patient care services.
Mapmydiabetes is effective in minimising costs for the UK National Health Service, engages in varied ways with its user base (patient and Health Care Professionals), is secure and accessible to all diabetes sufferers across the world.
illumo digital developed a technology platform, The MyHealth Engine, on which future developments will be built to help people with other chronic diseases in addition to diabetes. Patients of all ages will be assisted to improve their quality of life and optimise their self-management in collaboration with their caregivers.
“Mapmydiabetes goes much further than current forms of information and support and could deliver great benefits for patients and healthcare organisations, as well as significant cost reductions” Director of Clinical Research, Lancaster University
“One of the study subjects came to see me last week, 2 stone lighter and wielding her Mapmydiabetes printout! She had started connecting the dots between her numbers and her lifestyle, had made some changes, and had come to see me to discuss how to proceed with HER plan! I was delighted – she was so ‘in charge’, and using me as an advisor, not the person who she wanted to ‘fix’ things for her” Dr. William Warrilow, GP Partner and Diabetes Lead, Charing Surgery, Kent
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program. The first round review of all nominees is conducted by software and business technology executives with considerable industry expertise, including members of the industry, analysts, media, bloggers, bankers and investors. The judges are responsible for selecting the CODiE Awards finalists. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and the scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners. Winners will be announced during a virtual award ceremony on May 18.
