illumo digital’s Queen’s Road address is close to virtually everything Bristol has to offer. Within a half-hour lunch break you could feasibly make a round-trip to the Suspension Bridge or College Green, or just hang out in one of the great independent cafes near the Triangle. For the serious business of lunch itself you’ll be spoilt for choice. For a caffeine-craving day you can’t beat the wonderful Full Court Press speciality coffee shop on Broad Street, easily walkable in fifteen minutes from the office where there’s a weekly rotation of excellent brews from around the world.
For a pricier, hungrier lunch break, Bristol’s very own Lido is even closer, behind the impressive Victoria Rooms. Here you’ll find lovingly made food, drink and cocktails on a changing menu, all set to the calming, deep blue backdrop of the titular pool. You do pay for the privilege of this mellow locale, but what better way is there to chill out on a break? And if you aren’t racing for a meal deal in any number of the handy supermarkets there are two local institutions within shouting distance – Bristol’s very own Byron Burger and Friska, a café-music-books hybrid which is deservedly something of a local institution.
There is certainly no excuse to stay glued to our desks at lunchtime and plenty of places to go for a meeting if we fancy a change of scenery.
